Come join the Huntsville SRE Chapter for our monthly meeting/Presentation on Tuesday, September 11th at 11:00.
APT Research, Inc. will be hosting the SRE meeting this month. This monthly meeting will be a joint meeting with ISSS (International System Safety Society). The location will be at APT Research, Inc., 4950 Research Drive, NW, Huntsville, AL 35805 (APTResearchInc-Map). Contact Tori Smith at firstname.lastname@example.org if you question or need directions and/ or assistance. There will be a business meeting starting at 11:00 and the technical presentation Addressing Uniqueness and Unison of Reliability and Safety For Better Integration following by Dr. Fayssal Safie .
This presentation addresses the uniqueness and unison of safety and reliability in their respective roles, requirements, approaches and tools. It emphasizes the point that safety and reliability are unique but compensating each other in many aspects, and need to be integrated. More specifically, although safety is intended to maximize the product safety while reliability is intended to maximize achievability of the design functions, the two disciplines are strongly related in terms of requirements, tools and analysis techniques. Case studies are also provided to demonstrate the strong link between the two disciplines.
Bio of Dr. Fayssal Safie:
Dr. Fayssal Safie is currently serving as the A-P-T research principle engineer. He retired from NASA after 30 years where he served in many positions including the NASA Technical Fellow for Reliability and Maintainability (R&M) engineering. Dr. Safie received over 50 honors and awards and published over 40 papers in R&M Engineering, Probabilistic Risk Assessment, System Safety, and Quality Engineering. Dr. Safie has also served as an Adjunct Professor in the Systems Engineering Department at the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) for over 20 years. He has a Bachelor’s degree in science and a Bachelor’s, a Master’s, and a Doctorate in engineering.
Come join the Huntsville SRE Chapter for our monthly meeting/Presentation on Tuesday, April 10th at 11:00.
The meeting will be held at Siemens Facilities 675 Discovery Dr NW, suite 100, contact Tori Smith at email@example.com if you need directions and/ or assistance. There maybe a quick business meeting starting at 11:00 with the technical presentation following immediately .
The technical presentation will be given by Siemens Company beginning shortly after 11:00 am, “MADe – General Reliability Demonstration“.
What is MADe you might ask?
(Maintenance Aware Design environment)
-MADe is a software tool used by engineers to model parts, components, sub-systems and systems in order to identify and assess potential functional and safety issues in the system design (FMEA / FMECA).
-MADe can be used at all stages of the design process (conceptual, configuration, detail, technology refresh, upgrade) and was developed for complex, integrated, multi-domain systems (mechanical, hydraulic, electronic).
How does MADe relate to RAM?
-MADe RAM provides a model-based solution that combines capabilities for Reliability Allocation, Reliability Block Diagrams and Reliability / Availability Analysis with multiple failure distribution methodologies.
– MADe RAM enables engineers to generate design and service recommendations at each stage of the product lifecycle based on simulation analysis that can be aligned with the specific design state / operational configuration.
