Professional of the Year Award Recipient

POY Award

1: RAM employee, Mr. James W. Carter, accepting the Professional of the Year Award

The Huntsville Association of Technical Societies held its annual Professional of the Year (POY) Awards Dinner on June 19th at The Westin Huntsville.  The Society of Reliability Engineers Huntsville Chapter selected Mr. James W. Carter as Professional of the Year, and he was recognized as such during the POY banquet.  Mr. Carter works for the U.S. Army AMRDEC Engineering Directorate. During his career, he has demonstrated excellence in the development of software tools that have greatly advanced the capabilities of engineers who support U. S. Army Aviation. Mr. Carter played a major role in the development of ATLASTTM (Advanced Total Life-Cycle Assessment Software Tool) and CAST (Critical Safety Item 2410 Analysis System). ATLASTTM is a decision support tool that forecasts spare parts requirements and systems availability. CAST provides data retrieval/extraction and statistical analyses of both failure data and TAMMS-A data along with many other functions. Also, in support of SRE, as the Huntsville Chapter SRE treasurer, Mr. Carter conscientiously proposed new guidelines addressing how officers handle receipts and expenditures of money, making it possible for the chapter to take on a new endeavor that required management of large cash flows without losing their non-profit status.  This endeavor brought the elite of RAM professionals together in a forum to review and discuss new technologies, modeling, testing, and assessment.
